Julia Gregg Brill was born on September 15, 1891 in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. She was a 1908 graduate of Sunbury High School and a 1910 graduate of Bloomsburg State Normal School. She began her teaching career in a one room school in Town Hill in 1910. She later taught high school at Huntington Mills and then enrolled at the Pennsylvania State College. Fred Lewis Pattee was an American author, poet, teacher, scholar, and a leading authority on American literature. He was Professor of English and Rhetoric at Pennsylvania State College, and later became Professor of American Literature.
